Shortly before 3 p.m. Thursday, emergency crews were called to the 200 block of Redd Run Road in Amwell Township after a dog became trapped in the middle of an icy pond. Morgan Pelosi said she was able to track her dog, Bailey, a livestock guardian dog, through her Halo Collar and saw that she was in the pond. South Strabane and Amwell Township fire departments responded and used a boat to get to the stranded canine. Pelosi said she was “frantic” when she saw that Bailey was up to her shoulders in the water. “I’m a trauma nurse and I handle that a lot better than seeing my dog stuck in the pond.” Bailey was transported to Canon Hill Veterinary Clinic in North Strabane Township for treatment.
