Police accuse Uniontown man of firing shotgun at roofs

A Uniontown is accused of firing a 12-gauge shotgun, hitting the roofs of nearby homes in South Union Township.
Court paperwork indicated police were called to an Elm Road home in the township on Thursday because Anthony DeRosa Jr., 61, was playing loud music and screaming at the neighbor’s dog.
Neighbors reported to police they heard three gunshots that they believed hit the metal roofs of nearby homes.
When police arrived, DeRosa was in his front yard playing loud music, the complaint indicated. When they asked him to turn it down, police contend he picked up a handgun in its holster and tried to hide it from troopers.
DeRosa tried to go back inside his house, but was detained, police said.
According to the complaint, officers found a 12-gauge shotgun on DeRosa’s front porch, along with two empty shell casing and round chambered in the gun.
DeRosa is charged with three counts of discharge of a firearm into an occupied structure, reckless endangerment of a person, simple assault, criminal mischief and tampering with evidence. He was also cited for harassment and disorderly conduct.
He is currently being held at Fayette County jail in lieu of a $40,000 bond.
