Man accused of partially detaching woman’s ear

A Uniontown man is accused of hitting a woman in the face with a pistol while she held their infant, according to a criminal complaint filed on Monday.
Michael Palmer Jr., 43, allegedly forced his way into a home on Hickle Street on Dec. 8 and assaulted Yasmin Suber while she held their 1-year-old daughter. Uniontown police said Suber’s left earlobe was partially detached, the left side of her face was swollen, and she was bleeding from the nose, mouth and ear.
According to the complaint, Suber was with his family at the VFW on Main Street in Uniontown before he went to the Hickle Street home to pick up his daughter. Police said he started hitting Suber there and then forced his way into the home with a gun. Court paperwork did not indicate whether anything precipitated the alleged assault.
Palmer is charged with burglary, aggravated assault, child endangerment, two counts of simple assault and six counts of reckless endangerment.
District Judge Jason Cox released Palmer on a $40,000 signature bond.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for later this month.
