A Normalville man allegedly tried to rob the Honey Bear Gas in Bullskin Township station late Thursday using an Allen wrench he tried to pass off as a gun, police said.

State police contend that around 11 p.m., Michael Nickelson, 37, pointed a cylindrical object at gas station employee Derrick Grogan and said, “Stick ’em up, give me all you got.”

Grogan told police he ran from Nickelson and was able to flag down a police officer.

Police took Nickelson on Route 982, and found he had drug paraphernalia on him, the complaint alleged.

Nickelson admitted to pointing the wrench at Grogan and trying to rob him, and told police he did so because he didn’t have enough money to buy chocolate milk, according to court paperwork.

Nickelson is charged with robbery, theft, assault and drug possession and was cited for harassment and disorderly conduct. He is currently being housed at the Fayette County jail in lieu of a $25,000 bond. His preliminary hearing in front of District Judge Ronald Haggerty Jr. is scheduled for later this month.
