Brownsville man charged with alleged indecent assault of minor
A Brownsville man is accused of assaulting an underaged co-worker after providing her alcohol at his apartment, then lying about her whereabouts when police came to check on her.
David Rairigh, 20, faces felony charges of aggravated indecent assault of a person under 16 and interference with custody of children.
On Monday, the girl’s parents told police she was missing after she had failed to return home from work in Centerville the previous night at the expected time of 8:30 p.m., the complaint said. Police said the parents reported Rairigh had been texting her frequently and making her uncomfortable.
When police arrived at Rairigh’s apartment Monday morning, he told them the girl was not there and denied permission to search his apartment, the complaint said.
According to charging documents, a trooper saw Rareigh and the girl run out of Rairigh’s apartment around 9:23 a.m. and toward the back of the residence, where they were detained.
The girl told police Rairigh had invited her back to his apartment, where he gave her a 4 Loko alcoholic drink and a nicotine vape. Over the course of the night, he assaulted her three separate times, the complaint alleged.
Police said Rairigh corroborated the girl’s account of the assaults, and also admitted giving her alcohol and hiding her in a closet when troopers came to his apartment.
In addition to the felony charges, Rairigh is also charged with misdemeanor offenses of corruption of minors, luring a child into a motor vehicle, indecent assault of a person under 16 and furnishing liquor to a minor.
District Judge Michael Defino denied Rairigh’s bail.
He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Nov. 24.
