Fire damages Henry Clay Township home

1 min read

Fire heavily damaged a mobile home in Henry Clay Township over the weekend, but no injuries were reported.

Crews were called to 160 Meyers Drive shortly before noon Saturday for the fire at the mobile home near the Jockey Hollow boat ramp on Youghiogheny Lake.

No one was injured in the blaze, which took less than an hour for crews to battle, Fayette County Emergency Management spokeswoman Sue Kozak-Griffith said.

Markleysville firefighters were assisted at the scene by departments from Farmington, Ohiopyle-Stewart and several in neighboring Somerset County, Kozak-Griffith said. Crews were on scene for about 90 minutes.

The state police fire marshal was also called to the scene to investigate the blaze and ruled it accidental due to an electrical fault. The damage to the home and its contents was estimated at $90,000, according to a state police press release.
