Running June 16-22, Mountain Area Fair in Farmington is adding a rodeo and hypnotist to its lineup.
“We’ve had success with the June date and we’re continuing that,’’ said Tom Murray, fair board president. “Looking at the schedule, we’re in a position to bring in some new entertainment – something for all ages.’’
Located at 119 Elliotsville Road, the fair’s admission is free but there is a charge for arena shows.
Schedule includes: June 16: Car show is 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. with DJ Mean Gene. June 17: Exhibits accepted from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at Ralph VanSickle Exhibit Hall.
June 18: At 6 p.m., opening ceremony is held and carnival opens with free rides for youths age 14 and under the first night only. A paint and sip benefits Mountain Fellowship Center. At 7 p.m., there is MCW Micro Wrestling and DJ Matt the Cat.
June 19: Exhibit hall opens with agricultural exhibits. At 7 p.m., bicycle races start while Southern Comfort Band plays. Weird Eric, magician and balloon artist, appears at 8 p.m. Don’t miss Allie Moo, the Milking Cow.
June 20: Parade starts at 7 p.m., followed at 8 p.m. by Rafter Z Rodeo. Hypnotist Mike Blaine performs at 8 p.m. Touchstone Center for Crafts is from 7 to 9 pm. Live Band plays at 8 p.m.
June 21: At 7 p.m., truck pulls begin and Elliotsville Road Band plays. Blaine returns at 8 p.m. It’s Steak Dinner Night at Pizza Shack Kitchen.
June 22: At 7 p.m., demolition derby begins and Shelly McCombie Band performs. Boy Scout event will be held. Fireworks start at 10 p.m.
All week, carnival rides start at 6 p.m. There will also be a barnyard petting zoo, Jennifer Black Chain Saw Carving, facing painting and a mechanical bull.
