A New Salem man was charged with possession of child pornography after investigators received a tip reported to The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
The state police Bureau of Criminal Investigation charged Samuel J. Devince Jr., 47, of Hill Street in Footedale with child pornography and criminal use of a communication facility.
According to the affidavit of probable cause filed in his case, Microsoft reported to NCMEC that a pornographic image of a girl between 5 and 8 years old was uploaded to Bing six times from the same IP address. Police found the IP address was linked to Devince. State police conducted a search warrant at his home Wednesday and found the image on an external hard drive along with more than 100 other images of child pornography on his devices.
Devince was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Mike Defino Jr., who set bail at $10,000. Devince was unable to post bail and remains in Fayette County Prison. Charges were filed before Magisterial District Judge Daniel C. Shimshock.
