A woman was arrested for allegedly stabbing a man with a sword in Dunbar Township.

State police were called to 138 Marshall Street at about 2:40 a.m. Thursday for a report of a stabbing and a suspect possibly barricaded in a bedroom. The suspect was identified as Dorothy Nicole Sherwood, 36, of Dunbar, police said.

James Thomas, 34, of Scottdale suffered a puncture wound to his thigh. He was treated by Fayette EMS and released, according to state police.

Sherwood was charged with simple assault. She was arraigned before on-call Magisterial District Judge Jennifer Jeffries, who set bail at $2,500. Sherwood remains in Fayette County Prison, unable to post bail.
