From one family-run business to another, Frank Martin, owner of Fike Chevrolet in Masontown, has sold the business to Solomon Auto Group.

Kelly Solomon Garofalo, part owner of Solomon Auto Group along with her brother Todd Solomon, said the decision to purchase Fike Chevrolet (213 N. Main St.) was a mutual decision between the Solomons and Martin.

“We has purchased a Jeep off of them several years ago for our stores and so we already had a connection,” she said. “Fike Chevrolet has been around for years. Frank (Martin) was retiring and he contacted us.”

Garofalo confirmed that all of the employees under Martin at Fike Chevrolet are still there, working under Solomon Chevrolet.

“We’re both very family oriented, and we’re excited to welcome his employees as our employees and to welcome his customers as our customers,” she said.

Jason Brant is the sales manager at the new Chevrolet store. He has worked for Solomon Auto Group for 10 years as a certified car salesman at the Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram store in Carmichaels.

“We would like to invite all of his former customers to the new Chevrolet store,” Garofalo said.

This is the fourth location for the Solomon Auto Group.

“My dad (Norman Solomon) has been in the car business for 40 years, and when he bought our first dealership in Carmichaels, he had 25 years under his belt,” Garofalo said.

He is still very much involved in the business today.

That first dealership, which is Solomon Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge Ram, was purchase in 1993.

In 2002, the family built another Solomon Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge Ram store in Brownsville near California University of Pennsylvania.

About a year after that, the group bought a Ford store across the street and last year completed the building of a brand new facility there.

Just recently they purchased Fike Chevrolet, which is now called Solomon Chevrolet.

“With Chrysler, Ford and now Chevrolet, Solomon Auto Group now has the big three,” Garofalo said. “We want to welcome all of Fike’s employees as well as their customers.”

She added that Solomon Auto Group is a Blue Oval award winner for customer service and has also been named a “customer first sales and service” business by Chrysler.
