William H. Mendis

William H. Mendis, 85, of Uniontown, passed away Saturday, December 2, 2023. He was born July 31, 1938, in Uniontown, a son of the late Anthony Henry Mendis and Martha Stets Mendis.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ronald; and his wife’s parents, George and Blanche Bunda Hozak.
Bill graduated from Uniontown High School in 1957.
He retired from Fike’s Dairy after 24 years of service.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Hutchinson Sportsman’s Club and The Polish Club.
Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Georgianna Hozak Mendis; his daughters, Kimberly Lynn Duffy and husband William of Raleigh, N.C., and Lisa A. Hager of Uniontown; granddaughter, Courteny Nicole Hager and partner Mikey Wateska of Pittsburgh; sister, Jean Oglevee (Joe) of St. Augustine, Fla.; sisters-in-law, Terri Sabol (Ron), and Cindi Deegan (Tim), all of Uniontown; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, December 5, in ANDREW D. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, 80 Morgantown Street, Uniontown, where visitation will continue from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 6, followed by prayers of transfer.
A Funeral Mass, celebrating Bill’s life, will be follow at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church.
Burial will be at Mt. Macrina Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of one’s choice.
