Herman B. Jackson

Dr. Herman B. Jackson departed this life Tuesday, December 5, 2023. He was born October 9, 1952, in Youngstown, Ohio, to the late Herman and Louise Jackson. He graduated from Hubbard High School in 1970.
On July 7, 1984, Herman married Beryl Jo Harris, who he was married to for 39 years.
Herman served as assistant principal at Rayen High School, where he worked from 1990 to 1993. During his time as assistant principal, he also attended Youngstown State University, where he received his Master’s Degree in Educational Administration.
In 1993, Herman and his family moved to Brownsville, and he continued working in the field of education. He served as the principal of Redstone Middle School for 2 years and principal of Brownsville Area High School for 4 years.
Herman received his Doctorate Degree from the University of Pittsburgh in 1999. He then served as superintendent of Jefferson Morgan School District in Greene County and then superintendent of Bethlehem Center School District in Fredericktown before retiring in 2006.
In January 1997, Elder Jackson was installed as Pastor of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church, Brownsville, where he served as pastor for 17 years.
In 2015, Pastor Jackson and his wife became members of Gate of Heaven Church of God in Christ (COGIC) in Monessen, where he served as an associate minister.
Dr. Jackson was a loving and devoted husband and father. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 39 years, Beryl; three children, Herman Brian Jackson of Forest County, Brittny Janiecee Jackson of Pittsburgh, Isaiah Thomas (Tiffany) Jackson of Monroeville; stepdaughter, Chandra Mayo of Columbus, Ohio; three sisters, Elizabeth Jackson of Hubbard, Ohio, Edith Jackson of Mineral Ridge, Ohio, and Carla Jackson of Charlotte, N.C.; grandchildren:, Michalah, Izabella, Chandler, Jeremiah, Olivia, Yana, Tyjzae, Heaven, Ashleigh and Haley; along with one great-granddaughter, Mylah; a godson, Xavier Daniels; and a host of relatives and friends.
Friends will be received from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, the time of funeral services, Tuesday, December 19, in the GATE of Heaven Church of God, 644 Reed Avenue, Monessen. Internment will be held Wednesday, December 20, at LaFayette Memorial Park Cemetery.
