Patricia “Pat” Corder Sofranko passed away on Thursday, December 14, 2023, at Autumn Lake Healthcare at Braddock Heights in Frederick, Maryland.

Born on July 24, 1935, in Uniontown, she grew up in Smithfield, and was a daughter of the late Roy and Florence Schnatterly Corder.

She attended and graduated from Georges Township High School, class of 1953.

Following high school, Pat moved to the Washington, DC metropolitan area where she lived her life. She held multiple jobs in Washington, DC, including operating one of the “first IBM machines” as a contractor for the federal government. While raising her son and being a homemaker in Lovettsville, Virginia, Pat worked for Loudoun Country Day School in Leesburg, VA, and First Virginia Bank in Tysons Corner VA’s corporate office.

Pat loved to sew, read, paint, play card games, cook and bake – especially decorating Christmas and Valentine’s Day cookies with her granddaughter, Hailey.

She is survived by her son, John Eric Sofranko, wife, Mary Ann; and granddaughter, Erica Hailey, of Frederick, MD. She is also survived by her favorite sister-in-law, Mary Evelyn Sofranko Ficara; loving nieces and nephews – Teresa Ficara, Anthony Ficara, Congetta (Cookie) Ficara, and Lisa Ficara Barney; and stepchildren; John Bernard Sofranko, Jr. and Cynthia Sofranko.

In addition to her parents, she is proceeded in death by her protector and very special nephew, Vincent J. Ficara of Uniontown, PA.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., on Wednesday, December 20, 2023. at FERGUSON-BROWNFIELD FUNERAL HOME, 78 Main Street, Smithfield, PA. Service to immediately follow by Rev. Charles O’Brien. Internment will be at Mt. Moriah Cemetery, Smithfield, PA.

The family would like to thank the dedicated and special staff at Autumn Lake Healthcare at Braddock Heights and Frederick Health Hospice for their amazing care of Pat.
