James D. “Jim” “Bud” Emery, 74, of Brownsville, passed away Wednesday, December 20, 2023, in his home, with his family by his side. Born in Brownsville October 12, 1949, Jim was a son of the late James and Margaret Palfrey Emery.
Jim was a graduate of Brownsville High School Class of 1967, and following high school served his country honorably in the United States Army, where he received a Purple Heart during the Vietnam War.
Bud worked at Clairton Mill Works United States Steel Corporation for 31 years until his retirement.
Jim was a member of the Connellsville Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 21, past commander and member of the American Legion Post 301, member of the Loyal Order of Moose – Lodge 16, a member of the Catholic War Veterans, Continental 2 Club, the Mount Vernon Bowling League and was the umpire and assistant coach for the Uniontown High School softball team.
Bud enjoyed gardening, taking care of his yard, cooking and being a great husband, father, grandfather and great- grandfather.
Surviving to cherish Jim’s memory are his wife, Robin Lynn Hall- Emery; his daughters, Angela (Marvin Wright) Emery, Amanda (Chris Shultz) Emery, and Rylyn Hall-Emery; stepchildren, Brooke Hall, Brittany Martin, and Smalley “Bud” (Marissa Burnsworth) Martin II; grandchildren, Tristan (Jordan Wheatley) Emery, Kendall (Chris) Cope, Jamesen Carter, Madilyn Hall-Gasperic, Kailyn Samuel, Broedy Hall, Smalley Martin III, Victorious Emery, Rhajhae Jackson, Azlyn Martin, Sylis Martin, and Liahm Martin; great- grandchildren, Blayden Wheatley and Ellorah Wheatley-Emery; his two sisters, Donna O’Brian, Darlene Miller; his first wife, Loretta Emery; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Braelyn Hall- Gasperic; sister, Patricia Emery; and father-in- law, Robert Francis Hall Sr.
Friends and family will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, December 26, at which time funeral services will begin in the NOVAK-MELENYZER FUNERAL HOME, 515 Front Street, Brownsville, PA 15417. Interment will follow at Lafayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill.
