Lois Ruth Rankin Moag, 98, of Dunbar, passed away peacefully in the arms of the Lord Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at her home with her daughter by her side.

She was born on June 29, 1925, in Dunbar, a daughter of the late William Robert Rankin and the late Pearl Gillespie Rankin.

Lois was a graduate of Dunbar Township High School with the class of 1943. She attended her high school class reunion in September 2023 celebrating 80 years and was the last surviving member of her class.

She enjoyed the outdoors, always on a bicycle riding to Dunbar as a child from her home in Pechin. She would ride her bike to Dunbar to the post office, decorate it, and ride in the parades, and later she rode on the bike trail. She enjoyed cross-stitching and liked to bowl. She bowled duck pins at the Dunbar Sons of Italy Club, and later with her friends in the Rainbow Bowling League.

For over 65 years she was a church pianist, playing at Dunbar Baptist Church and at Faith Baptist Church. She especially enjoyed accompanying her nephew, Todd Sproul.

Lois was an Avon lady and also worked at the Connellsville Rubber Plant, Anchor Hocking Glass, Keystone Fireworks, and the Pennsylvania Wire Glass where she met her husband, Robert Moag. Lois and Robert were married on June 30, 1949, and were married for 42 years.

She is survived by her daughter, Cindy Moag, and her fiance Frank Wallace; and her nieces and nephews, Connie Dean, Joanne Stump and husband, Denny, Todd Sproul and wife, Anna, Ivan Sproul, Beckie Irwin and husband, Michael, Taylor Irwin, Andrew Irwin, Rachel Trubisky and husband, Ben, Robert Trubisky and Meredith Trubisky; and her furry friends, Buster and Dottie; also, a special friend and caregiver, Cathy Ribniscky.

A special thank you to the wonderful WVU Medicine employees, Stephanie and Bobbi, occupational therapists, Ron and Jason, physical therapists, nurses, Melissa, Vicky, and Melissa, social worker, Katie, and home health aides, Brandy and Laura. The care and attention to Lois by these individuals helped her enjoy a longer, healthy and happy life.

In addition to her parents, Lois was predeceased by her husband, Robert Moag, who passed away in 1992, and her two sisters, Clea Jean Holsing and Nora Rae Gouker.
