Raymond M. Uhler, Jr., 79, of Hanover, entered his Heavenly home Sunday, March 31, 2024, in Hanover Hall Nursing Home due to Parkinson’s Dementia, with his family by his side.

He was the husband of Beverly Fowler Uhler, with whom he shared 12 years of marriage. His first wife, Kay L. Collins Uhler, preceded him death after 46 years of marriage.

Raymond was born May 8, 1944, in Fayette County, a son of the late Raymond, Sr. and Hazel K. Ellsworth Uhler of Fairchance.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Uhler is survived by his daughters, Darlene Flemmens and husband Jeff of East Berlin, and Erica Uhler at home; his grandchildren, Nikki Flemmens Warfield and husband Blaine of Bridgeville, Brock and Danielle Jesse Flemmens of Spring Grove; great-grandchildren, Reagan and Rory Flemmens, and Braxton Warfield; his sister, Sondra Tolbert and husband Dale of Uniontown; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Raymond was a 1962 graduate of Fairchance- Georges High School in York Run.

Following his service in the U.S. Army from 1970 – 1974, where he earned the rank of sergeant, Raymond loved working on the farm for Brownfield’s in Fairchance. He later worked for General Motors in Baltimore, Md. for 32 years, and at Lincoln Intermediate for 15 years as a school bus driver and an assistant for handicap children.

He especially cherished taking his nephew and grandchildren crabbing and fishing in Chincoteague, Va., while they were growing up.

Outside of family, his greatest love was classic cars, which he enjoyed working on, especially hot rods and muscle cars.

Mr. Uhler’s family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Gettysburg Hospital, as well the staff at Hanover Hall Nursing & Rehab for the excellent care they provided.

Following cremation, the family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until 12 noon, the time of a memorial service celebrating Raymond’s life, Saturday, April 6, in Wetzel Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 549 Carlisle Street, Hanover, with Pastor Luke Ball officiating. Interment will immediately follow in Marburg Memorial Gardens, Hanover. This will conclude the memorial events. There will be no luncheon or reception following.
