Marjorie “Marge” Ann Breckenridge, 94, of Fayette City, passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2024, in Country Care Manor, Fayette City.
She was born November 26, 1929, in East Pike Run Township, a daughter of Frederick and Mary Ann English. Marge was the oldest of 10 children and although under 5-feet tall, she was always “the boss”.
Marge became a widow in her 30’s and raised two daughters, Mary Lee and Kathryn. She went to college in the 1960s and became a teacher, and later earned a master’s degree.
She was a very hard worker and taught special education and fourth grade for 25 years for the Trinity Public School System in Washington.
Marge was a devout Christian and enjoyed reading her Bible and praying daily. She also was an active choir member and taught Sunday school at First Christian Church in Fayette City for many years as well as other churches over the years.
She also enjoyed writing poetry and working crossword puzzles. The Steelers, Penguins and Pirates always excited her, and she was an avid fan.
She is survived by her daughters, Mary Lee (Frank) Axton of Brownsville, and Kathy (Dave) White of Martinsburg, W.Va.; and grandchildren, Kenny (Tracey) Axton of Maryville, Tenn., Frankie Axton of Fayette City, Marci (Richard) Quarzo of Brownsville, and Valli White of Martinsburg. She also is survived by nine much loved great- grandchildren, siblings, nieces, and nephews.
Marge will be dearly missed by her beloved family and friends as she moves on to be with her Lord and Savior.
A private service will be conducted for the family Friday, April 5, in the ELEY/MCCRORY FUNERAL HOME, INC., Fayette City.
