Clyda Marie Thomas, 60, of Uniontown, gained her heavenly wings and achieved eternal rest on Thursday, November 28, 2024.

She was born in Uniontown, on March 26, 1964, to the late William Clyde Thurman and Georgetta Harris.

Clyda was a Godfearing woman and a member of John Wesley AME Zion Church. She graciously and successfully walked God’s earth providing goodness, kindness and friendly prosperity to all she met, loved and embraced.

Clyda supported and looked forward to enjoying family and friends’ gatherings. She loved expressing ideology, political views, current events and general discussion. She yearned to share in company and advance loving relationships.

Clyda is a 1982 Graduate of Uniontown High School. She pursed many higher education opportunities to advance her career and professional knowledge including earning certificates and / or diplomas in Word Processing Certification from Penn State University’s Fayette Campus; a Medical Office Assistant Diploma from West Virginia Career Institute; LBI Health Management; and a Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential.

She lived in several states, including Harrisburg, where she was employed with AMP, Inc., and Pensacola, Fla. where she was employed with Columbia regional Hospital. She later returned home to Uniontown and served her community at UPMC: Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh, UPMC Cancer Center, Uniontown; Laurel Highlands OB/GYN, Hopwood; The Orthopedic Group, Clairton; Head Start Program at Fayette County.

She retired, due to her physical disability, from Fayette Resources, Inc., where she continued to execute her largest passion- fostering and educating children.

Clyda will be sadly missed, eternally loved and remembered by those she left behind: her husband, Phillip Stanley Thomas; a charming daughter, Amber Pitts; her brother, Craig and his wife, Tammy; sister, Lana Settles and her husband, Rick; nephew, Zachary and his wife, Halla; her wonderful and ever-loving nieces, Ella-Marie Settles and Devyn Harris; special nephew, Jerimiah, all who will forever cherish and miss their Aunt Clyda; godchildren: Tori Grooms, Jersey Greer and others who will forever miss her; and a host of adored aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Clyda’s life will be celebrated from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, December 6, at the LANTZ FUNERAL HOME, 297 E. Main Street, Uniontown. The celebration continues with a funeral service at 4 p.m. on Saturday, December 7.
