Joseph Hancharik, 89, of Dunbar, passed away Thursday, December 12, 2024, in his home, with his loving daughter, Joyce by his side. He was born February 14, 1935, in Star Junction, a son of Paul and Mary Lapatosky Hancharik.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jane Yencheck Hancharik; his siblings, Paul, George, Anne, Mary, Steve, Helen, Katherine and John; and his son-in-law, John Tringhese, II.
Joe worked for Michael Burkowitz Company for 33 years and Laurel Mall in maintenance for six years. He bought a farm in 1957 with his wife, Mary Jane, raising animals and farming.
In his younger years he also enjoyed pitching baseball in the Perryopolis area. He spent time with his daughters showing horses in 4H. Joyce was proud to be the daughter of a farmer who taught her many things about agriculture. During his lengthy illness he spent two years at his daughter, Barbara’s home.
Joe is survived by his children, Barbara Tringhese of Monarch, Joyce Yost (Jeffrey) of Gans, Julie Devine (Steve) of Lanham, Md.; four grandchildren, John Tringhese, III (Katie), Janine Fattori, Sam Fattori, Layla Devine; three great-grandchildren, Brielle, Grayson, Bella; brother, Andy Hancharik; sister, Marge McCory.
Joe’s family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, December 16, in the BLAIR- LOWTHER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 305 Rear Independence Street, Perryopolis, where a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 17, with Pastor Michael Lyons officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Washington Cemetery, Perryopolis.
The family would like to thank the Scottdale Amedisys for the outstanding care extended to Joe. Also his caregivers: Sandy, Joanne, Janet and Tina.
