James Michael “Jimmy” Riggin, 61, of Keller, Texas, formerly of Uniontown, passed away peacefully Thursday, February 15, 2024, after a prolonged battle with Multiple Sclerosis.

Jimmy was born January 29, 1963 a son of the late Bernard Riggin, Sr. and Bertha Cholock Riggin, at Camp Lejuene, N.C.

Jimmy grew up in Uniontown, where he participated in all youth sports. He began his working career delivering the morning edition of the Herald Standard at age 9.

Upon graduation from Uniontown High School in 1981, Jimmy relocated to Fort Worth, Texas, and was employed at GTE as a telephone repair technician. He later worked at Southwest Airlines in provisions and stock departments, until his early retirement in 2004 due to the physical limitations from his MS.

Everyone who knew Jimmy will always remember his love of life, his unmatchable sense of humor, his dynamic personality, and his ever-present smile.

He was a lifelong fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and as a young father he loved fishing with his children, playing basketball in local leagues, going to the movies, reading, spending time with his dear service dogs, Emmitt and then Sparrow, and for as long as he was able, attending church and social events.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Bertha Riggin.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Cindy; his daughter, Amanda Riggin-Middleton (Kyle) of Pleasanton, Texas; son, Wade Riggin (Erin Walling) of Edmond, Okla.; granddaughter, Lucy Riggin; brother, Bernie (Teresa) of Athens, Tenn.; sister, Lynette Mitchell of Uniontown; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family members.

Lucas Funeral Homes of Keller, Texas was entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
