Robert “Bo” Smith, 88, of Brownsville, passed away Friday, December 29, 2023, in Jefferson Hospital, Jefferson Hills.
Bo was born December 20, 1935, in Brownsville, to the late Royal and Elvira Smith. He graduated from Brownsville High School in 1953.
Bo worked at Hunt’s Service Station until he enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1958, where he served as a paratrooper for the 82nd Airborne Division. After serving his country, Bo went on to work at Hillman Barge for 18 years and retired from C&C Marine after 13 years.
Bo was a former member of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church in Brownsville.
Bo was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Allene Robinson, Juanita Smith, Howard Smith and Edwin Smith.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Carol Y. Ford Smith; daughters, Dr. Joy Smith of Greensburg, and Robin Smith of Pittsburgh; granddaughters, Ericka and Taylor Williams of Pittsburgh; sister, Gertrude Hutson of Laureldale; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Friends will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, January 7, in the LANTZ FUNERAL HOME, INC., 297 E. Main Street, Uniontown. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, January 8. Interment will immediately follow at LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill.
