New Salem

Leonard L. “Lenny” Karpel, of New Salem, passed Tuesday, January 2, 2024. He was born September 13, 1940, in Buffington, a son of the late John and Anna Ihnat Karpel.

Leonard attended St. Precopius Parochial School in New Salem and was a member of the former St. Procopius Roman Catholic Church.

Leonard was retired from Steel Scaffolding, Inc.

Besides his parents, Lenny was preceded in death by his grandson, Nathan Campbell; his son-in-law, Bob Campbell; seven brothers, John, Jerome, Walter, Raymond, Bernard, Joe and Francis; and a sister, Loretta Ryan.

He is survived by wife, Heleen Kirch Karpel; three daughters, Peggy (Vince) Wolpink, Wendy (Norm) Blanish, and Suzanne Campbell; grandson, Robert (Jess) Campbell; a sister, Rosalie Heffern; and many nieces and nephews.

Services at this time will be private and in the care of the DEARTH FUNERAL HOME. A Memorial Service will be scheduled for a future date.
