Penny E. Jordan

Smithfield

Penny E. Jordan, 55, of Smithfield, passed away Tuesday, October 8, 2024, in Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va., with her loving family at her side. Born November 11, 1968, in Uniontown, she was a daughter of Reaver (Jordan) Marshall of Smithfield, and the late Kenneth Marshall.

A graduate of Albert Gallatin High School, Penny had formerly worked as a caregiver for her mother.

An avid softball player and an extraordinary woman, she was capable of seeing the good in a bad situation, and always found a reason to smile.

Penny loved the outdoors and rarely stayed inside. The love that she shared and the smile she showed seemed to light up everyone’s life, just like the sun. Among all of her achievements in life, her favorite was being a mother and grandmother.

Penny displayed the true meaning of a good person and strong leader every day. She guided all of us in many ways and always found a way to make us feel better. She was our rock and the keystone of our family.

Surviving, in addition to her mother, is her beloved daughter, Ashley McCourt of Smithfield (fiance Brandon Smith); two granddaughters, Dakota John and Kelly Smith; and a sister, Kathryn Swaney (husband Michael) of Smithfield.

Friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., the hour of service, Sunday, October 13, in the RICHARD R. HEROD FUNERAL HOME, Point Marion, with Pastor Aaron Douthitt officiating. Interment follows in Evergreen Memorial Park, Point Marion.

Special thanks are extended to her former husband and caregiver, Terry McCourt, for the love, support and friendship that he and Penny shared.
