Hopwood

Thomas Keith Roby, 86, of Hopwood, passed away Tuesday, October 8, 2024, in The Gathering Place, Uniontown. He was born September 16, 1938, in Uniontown, a son of Leslie H. Roby and Helen Sampey Roby.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Shaffer Roby in 2014; stepsons, John Harvey, George Harvey and Robert Harvey; brother, Howard Roby; and sister, Lois DePaula.

Tom graduated from Uniontown High School with the Class of 1956 and then served in the U.S. Navy from 1956 through 1959. He worked for many years as a customer service representative for Reliance Electric Company.

Tom was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan. His family was his life.

Left to cherish Tom’s memory are his children, Jill Moore of Cape Coral, Fla., Brian Roby of Morgantown, W.Va., Bruce Roby of Hopwood, Brent Roby of Morgantown, and Carol Osborn of Burgettstown; many grandchildren and great- grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Arrangements have been entrusted to ANDREW D. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORIES, INC., 80 Morgantown Street, Uniontown, where family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, October 16. Visitation will continue in the funeral home from 10 until 11 a.m., the time of a service celebrating Tom’s life, Thursday, October 17, with Dr. Mac Reed officiating. Military rites will be accorded by AMVETS Post #103 of Hopwood in Oak Grove Cemetery.
