Masontown

With heavy hearts, the family of Edward Raymond Sierzega announce his passing Sunday, April 13, 2025, in his home in Hamilton, Va.

Eddie was born July 10, 1966, in Masontown, a son of the late Thomas and Marie Hlatky Sierzega.

Eddie was the widow of the late Mary Lou Tedesco Sierzega.

He is survived by his children, Jayden Eric, twin sons Tyler Edward and Zachary Thomas, and Ainsley Marielle; his siblings, Louise Sierzega Geary, Thomas Sierzega, Vivian Sierzega-Rouse and Carl Sierzega; and many nieces and nephews.

Ed graduated from Albert Gallatin High School. He received a bachelor’s degree from West Virginia University and his master’s degree from Case Western Reserve.

Ed had a successful career in tax accounting up until his passing.

He loved sports and was a firm supporter of WVU teams and the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates.

Ed was an industrious gardener. He planted and nursed a large number of fruit trees, berries, grapevines, tomatoes and, of course, Hungarian hot wax peppers. However, Ed’s true passion was his loving family!

Funeral services will be held in the JOHN S. MAYKUTH JR. FUNERAL HOME, 7 River Avenue, Masontown, where friends and family will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 21. Funeral services will begin at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 22, in the funeral home chapel, followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Francis of Assisi, 101 W. Church Avenue, Masontown, and the procession to St. Agnes Cemetery for prayers and internment to immediately follow.
