Wilma E. Wilson

McClellandtown

Wilma E. Wilson, 80, of McClellandtown, passed away Sunday, April 20, 2025, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh.

She was born April 26, 1944, in Leckrone, a daughter of the late Smith and Helen Seese Burke.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Greg D. Wilson; and her brother, Tom “Buddy” Burke.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Gregory S. Wilson; sister, Virginia Burke Griffith and husband Donald; sisters-in-law, Deborah (Mark) Barnes and Donna (Chuck) Rossman; nieces, Cheryl Rossman, Desiree (Rob) Deli, Marcus Barnes, Christy (Chuck) Wolfe, and Michelle (Jimmy) Mace; nephews, Brock Mace and Eli Wolfe.

Wilma graduated from German Township High School and Eastern Mennonite University with a degree in education.

For 36 years was employed as a school teacher in the Albert Gallatin School District at the following schools: first grade at Ralph, sixth grade at German Junior High School and Masontown Elementary.

For over eight years Wilma was involved in the 4-H Livestock Program as a leader (Garden Club). She also served for 15 years in the Old Trails Club, where she held the following offices: club president, club first and second vice president, currently as club secretary, club membership chair, club LCIF coordinator and club service chair, head of Old Trails Lions Fayette County Fair, food booth holding a Serv-Safe License, assisted cabinet secretary Gregory S. Wilson and was awarded a Melvin Jones Award, which is the highest award given to a Lion.

As a member of Uniontown Church of the Brethren, she served as a deacon and served on the Core Team, Sisters in Spirit Women’s Group, and helped coordinate funeral dinners for families in the church.

Special thanks goes to Amedisys nurses, AHN West Penn Hospital team, AHN Allegheny General Hospital, and AHN In-Patient Hospice nursing and coordinator staff for their excellent care.

Family and friends will be received in the JOHN S. MAYKUTH JR. FUNERAL HOME, 7 River Avenue, Masontown, from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 24, with Lions services held at 3 p.m. and deacon services held at 7 p.m.. Visitation continues from 10 until the 11 a.m. hour of service Friday, April 25, in the Funeral Home Chapel, with the Reverend Robert Stein and the Reverend Bill Kiger officiating. Interment follows in Church Hill Cemetery, McClellandtown.
