Mr. M. Terry Hoch, 77, of Uniontown, passed away peacefully at 1:42 AM on Sunday, February 2, 2025, at J. W. Ruby Memorial Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Uniontown on February 18, 1947, to the late Albert and Nell Fike Hoch.

Terry graduated from South Union High School, class of 1965; from Penn State University, class of 1969 with a Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering; and from the University of Pittsburgh with a master’s degree in engineering.

He retired in 2009 from his career as a Mining Engineer for Mine Safety and Health Administration.

He cherished his time spent with family and he was the life of the party. He also enjoyed his morning meetings with friends at Panera Bread. He had a passion for oldies music, and could recite any band name, song title, and lyrics. He had the best sense of humor and was cracking jokes up until his last minutes. You can be sure he had a well-manicured lawn and rooted for Penn State on Saturdays. He was the best husband, Dad, and Pap Pap.

Terry will be sadly missed by his loving family; he is survived by his high school sweetheart, Joyce Wydo Hoch of Uniontown, whom he was married to for 55 years; three daughters, Gretchen Nicholson and husband Wes of Scottdale, Wendy Hoch and fiance Joey Budinsky of Uniontown, Stephanie Rauch and husband Drew of Pickerington, Ohio; grandchildren, Hudson, Adeline, and Truman Nicholson, and Bowie Rauch; a sister, Shirley “Sugar” Harned and husband Earl of Las Vegas, NV; a sister-in- law, Phyllis Bryson of Raleigh, N.C.; close niece, Becky Parnell of Rainbow City, Ala.; many loving nieces and nephews; and grand-dogs, Kevin, Harrison, Milly, and Chewy.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Albert, Richard, and Charles Hoch; and four sisters, Jean Hoch, Geraldine Cunningham, Doris Cehula, and Barbara Duke.

Per Terry’s wishes, there will be no services at this time. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Terry had an immense compassion for homeless pets, and volunteered at the local animal shelter. In remembrance of Terry’s life, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to the Fayette Friends of Animals, FFOAshelter.org or to your favorite animal shelter.

Arrangements are under the direction of the STEPHEN R. HAKY FUNEAL HOME, 603 N. Gallatin Ave. Ext., Uniontown, PA 15401.
