George Tate

George Tate, 76, of Smithfield, went to be with his Lord Tuesday, February 4, 2025, with his loving wife of 50 years, Darlene, at his side.
He was born September 4, 1948, in Springhill Township, a son of the late William J. and Esther Graham Tate. Also deceased is his sister, Martha; and brother, Ray.
In addition to his wife, he is survived and dearly missed by his son, George Tate, Jr. and wife Ashley; and two grandsons, Finnegan, age 9, and Fallon, age 4.
George was a long-time member of Haydentown Christian Church, where he served as an usher and handyman, among many other things. He was also a member of the Haydentown Community Center for 18 years, where he had served as president and repairman.
A former coal miner, George loved hunting, camping, messing around with old cars and NASCAR racing.
Honoring his wishes, there will be no public services. Arrangements are in the care of the RICHARD R. HEROD FUNERAL HOME, Point Marion.
