With heavy hearts and deep sadness, the family of Francis “Frank” Paul Alexander, Jr. announce his peaceful passing from this earthly life Wednesday, January 29, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. A beloved brother, uncle, cousin and friend, he will be immensely missed, but memories of him and knowing that he can see clearly now with the angels brings comfort to his loved ones.

Born on November 1, 1960, at Providence Hospital in Washington D.C., Frank was raised in Northeast D.C. before moving to Bowie, Md. (Allen’s Pond), where he spent the remainder of his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis “Sonny” and Valerie “Tootsie” Alexander, Sr.; his maternal grandparents, John and Mary Turchin; his paternal grandparents, Joseph and Helen “Skinny” Alexander; and his beloved four-legged companion of 15 years, Lance.

Frank is survived by his siblings, Maryann (Mike) Cooper, Edward (Susan) Alexander, and Susie (Ron) Calhoon; the love of his life, Angie; eight nieces and nephews; and 18 great- nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind many cousins and friends, who cherished him deeply.

A proud graduate of Archbishop Carroll High School in Washington, D.C., Class of 1980, Frank began his career as an X-Ray technician at The Washington Hospital Center, Washington D.C. He later became an accomplished CT Technologist earning R.T.(R)(CT)(ARRT) credentials with The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and concluded his career at The University of Maryland Medical Center, Baltimore, Md.

Frank was known for his zest for life and his fierce loyalty to his family and friends. A true Scorpio, he was passionate, determined and always ready to help those in need. His sense of humor and infectious laugh brought joy to everyone around him.

He loved the beach, especially soaking up the sun and watching sunsets, and he treasured hosting Fourth of July Crab Feasts and celebrating his mom’s birthday with family. Halloween and Christmas were among his favorite holidays; he loved dressing up for Halloween and took joy in playing Santa for his nieces and nephews.

An avid sports enthusiast, Frank enjoyed playing soccer in his youth and later volunteered alongside his brother, Ed, coaching The Bowie Boys Girls Club Youth Soccer League.

He also had a Harley and felt most at home riding to “Grandma in the Mountains” house with Ed.

Frank was a lifelong animal lover as well and was especially fond of cats.

In accordance with Frank’s wishes, funeral services will be private. John S. Maykuth, Jr. Funeral Home, Masontown, is assisting the family with cremation and burial arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that those wanting to honor Frank’s memory consider planting a tree or having a star named in his honor.

A memorial has been established at www.maykuthfuneralhome.com
