David “Daveyk” Kovachick, Sr., 71, of Brownsville, passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2025, after a lengthy illness, in WVU – Uniontown Hospital. He was born December 4, 1953, in Brownsville, a son of the late George H. and Catherine Kovachick.

Daveyk was a devoted employee of Independent Enterprises for 44 years.

Dave was a dedicated family man. He loved cooking Sunday breakfast for his family, spending time with his grandchildren, and antiquing with his wife to find beautiful pieces for their home and to find coins to add to his collection. He was also an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed deer and small game hunting, and mushroom foraging.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Kasey Beth Kovachick; and brothers, George and James Kovachick.

Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 43 years, Sherry Kovachick; his three children, Kristen Cavanaugh and husband Matthew, David Kovachick, Jr. and wife Tina, and Katlyn “Katie” Niehenke and husband Jay; his grandchildren, Andrew and Ellie Cavanaugh, Gianna Vessecchia, and Bella Kapnicky; sister, Rosanna Ondrish and husband Bernie; twin sister, Dolores Kovachick; sister-in-law, Barb Kovachick; nephews, Shawn Ondrish and wife Meghan, George Kovachick; niece, Dawn Stankus and husband Brad; and his beloved Dachshund puppies, Emmi and Otis; as well as many other family and friends.

Family and friends will be received from 12 noon until a blessing service at 7 p.m. Saturday, January 11, in the SKIRPAN FUNERAL HOME, 135 Park Street, Brownsville, PA 15417, with the Rev. Fr. Efren Ambre officiating.
