Lloyd T. Dillow, Jr., “Junior” 87, of Point Marion, Pa., passed away Saturday, January 25, 2025, at the Horizon Personal Care Home in Fairchance. Born Nov. 12, 1937 in Gans, Pa., he was a son of the late Clara Porter and Lloyd Dillow, Sr.,
A 1957 graduate of Point Marion High School, Junior served in the U.S. Army Reserves, had worked as a butcher at the former 119 Superette, worked for Greer Limestone and retired as a coal miner from U.S. Steel’s Kirby mine. Following his retirement, he delivered parts for area auto parts stores.
In his spare time, Junior enjoyed cutting grass, painting for neighbors, or just sitting on the front porch or back swing watching the cars go by. He was a special father, who would do anything for anyone.
His wife of 62 years, Esther King Dillow, passed away on Dec. 29, 2021. Also deceased is a granddaughter, Amanda Dillow, and his sister, Rebecca McGee in 2023.
Surviving are his children and their spouses, Susan and Scott Nickelson and Brent and Kristine Dillow, all of Point Marion; grandchildren, Betheny Jenkins (Frenchy), Ryan Nickelson (Ashley), Adam Nickelson (Kendall), Casey Dillow, and Alyssia Dillow; great-grandchildren, Hayley and Gabriel Morgan, Hudson Jenkins, Layken, Raygan, Colton and Camden Nickelson, Cadance and Aidan Dillow; four step-grandchildren, Bob Nickelson and his children, Kara and Brandon, Chris Nickelson, Kim Baker and daughter Carriagen, and Eric Nickelson (Stephanie) and daughters Megan and Hayden. He will be sadly missed by all who loved him.
Friends will be received in the RICHARD R. HEROD FUNERAL HOME, Point Marion, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., and again Thursday, from 10 to 11 a.m. hour of service, with Rev French Jenkins officiating. Interment follows in Mount Moriah Presbyterian Cemetery, Point Marion.
The family extends their thanks to Horizon Care Home in Fairchance, and Amedisys Hospice, and especially to Michelle, Rhonda and Cathy for all the special care they gave him.
