Charlotte Ann Mackey

Charlotte Ann Mackey, 85, of Waynesburg, passed away Tuesday, July 8, 2025, in UPMC Washington Hospital, after a brief illness.
She was born May 7, 1940, in Uniontown, a daughter of the late John and Helen Malaspina. She was a 1958 graduate of German Township High School.
On May 17, 1972, she married Jerry Mackey, who passed away December 26, 2021, just shy of their 50th wedding anniversary. She lived the last 53 years in Waynesburg, raising three children and spoiling her grandchildren.
She worked as a caregiver for Greene ARC and Fayette Resources until her retirement in 2009.
Charlotte loved rooting for and yelling about the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pittsburgh Pirates. She was looking forward to watching the Steelers this fall because the Pirates “weren’t any good.” She loved playing bingo and playing cards, when her health permitted. Her greatest love was her grandchildren. She was always present at their various events, whether it was a dance recital, play, sporting event, or whatever it may be. You could always count on her to be there.
Charlotte is survived by her daughter, Patty Alden; sons, Jerry (Maranda) Walters of Crucible, Brad (Kelly) Mackey of Waynesburg, and Matt (Terri) Mackey, also of Waynesburg; as well as her grandchildren, Jerry Walters, Amanda Walters, David O’Donoghue, Kara Mackey, Ayden Mackey, Gavin, Levi, Laken and Miles Walters, and Noah Krupar; sister, Antoinette (Robert) Leshinsky; sisters-in-law, Carolyn Mackey, and Nancy Panzo; special family members, Lloyd and Sue Hixon, Linda Hixon, Jennifer Hixon, and Billie Jo (Greg) Yakubik; several nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, Charlotte was preceded in death by a grandson, Jeromy “JJ” Mackey; brother, Richard, who was killed in action in the Vietnam War in 1966; and special family members, Ken and Thelma Hixon, Pete and Sandy Hixon, and Bill Hixon.
To honor Charlotte and her love for the Steelers and Pirates, the family requests that those attending please wear Steelers or Pirates attire.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 11, in the BEHM FUNERAL HOME, 182 W. High Street, Waynesburg, PA 15370, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 12, with Pastor Eric Spanier officiating. Interment will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Waynesburg.
