Frances Cecila Kromer

Penncraft
Frances C. Kromer, 92, passed away Thursday, June 20, 2025, at Monarch Meadows Personal Care Home, Uniontown, following an 8-year courageous battle with Alzheimer’s.
Born in Dearth, on March 6, 1933, Frances was the youngest child of Czechoslovakian immigrants, George and Mary Mizerak Check, Sr. She was the last remaining member of her immediate family. Frances had been a resident of the village of Penncraft since 1954 and was a member of the St. Francis of Assisi Parish, Footedale, (the former Holy Rosary Church, Republic).
Frances was a quiet, yet spunky and gentle, yet feisty, spitfire. She was a dedicated wife and homemaker who created luscious pies, tasty spaghetti sauce, yummy “three-bowl” chicken soup and tender nut rolls. She retired from the Fayette County Human Services Department as a Home Health Aide, worked for J.K. Packing Company and the Brownsville Drive-In.
On March 11, 1954, Frances married Leonard Kromer, who preceded her in death on December 23, 2012. She was also preceded in death by her children, Leonard Kromer Jr. and Doreen Kromer; her grandsons, Dominic Forcina III and Tobey Angelone; and siblings: John Check, George Check, Jr., Helen Young, Mary Uher, Anna Grega and Margaret Burford.
Surviving are her loving children: Dr. Lenora Angelone and husband, Phillip of Penncraft, Mary Jo Rihaly and husband, Ron of Penncraft, Karen Fraley and husband, Rob of Merrittstown and James Kromer and wife, Janet of Penncraft; six grandchildren: Angela Stokes and husband, Terence, Lisa Gift and husband, Ryan, Rachel Rihaly, Mason Kromer, Dolores “Dolly” Kromer and Cameron Kromer; four great-grandchildren: Gannon Stokes, Carter Stokes, Brody Gift and River Griffin; sister-in-law, Linda Kromer; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the loving caring Monarch Meadow’s Vivian Family, Dan, Katie, Jordan and Savannah, as they bestowed mom as their first, and crowned her as their most royal, resident. Heartfelt appreciation to all the loving and caring Monarch Meadows staff who supported mom over the years, especially Sharon, who was at mom’s side for so long. Most profound gratitude and affection for the caring expert professionals of Amedisys Hospice, most especially her guardian angels, Hospice Aide Georgia Staley and Nurse Brandi Smith, as well as mom’s talented loving hairdresser, Janie Oglevee, who magically delighted and transformed mom to beautiful each week.
A special “card” of thanks to friend, Rose Marie Gehron, who, for 7 years, sent mom a greeting card weekly ~ often even more! God’s Grace to each of these individuals. All truly angels on earth.
Memorial contributions in Frances’s name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, online at alz.org or by mail to: 320 Nevada Street, Suite 201, Newton, MA 02460 (note loved one’s name on check).
