Oscar William “Duke” Hugland, 86, of Perryopolis, Jefferson Township, passed away Sunday, March 2, 2025, in his home, surrounded by his family. Born March 10, 1938, in Jefferson Township, he was a son of the late William Hugland Jr. and Eunice George Hugland.
A lifelong resident of Jefferson Township, Oscar retired from Westinghouse Electric Corporation.
Oscar was a faithful member of the Braznell Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, where he previously had served as an elder.
He also served as a Jefferson Township supervisor for many years.
Oscar served in the United States Armed Forces as a member of the Army.
He enjoyed hunting, especially bear hunting with his buddies in Clearfield County at Mahaffey Camp.
Oscar was most proud of his family, who were at the center of everything he did. Oscar had a strong faith and is now safe in the arms of Jesus.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Carolyn Lee Meese Hugland; his son and daughter-in-law, William and Joni Hugland of Rostraver Township; daughter and son-in-law, Tracey and Mark Dillon of Perryopolis; four grandchildren, William Hugland Jr. and wife Ashley, Rebekah and Jordan Timko, Kelsey and Ryan Kubiak, Mark and Sarah Dillon; along with five great- grandchildren, Brooke, William III, Jordan Jr., Emma and Parker; sister and brother-in-law, Melissa and Steve Balog of Avon, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Eunice Mae Derbaum, Patty Barrett, Mary Baer; and two brothers, Rolo Hurlbut and David Hugland.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, in the PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME & CREMATIONS LLC, Family Owned and Operated, 191 Liberty Street, Perryopolis, (724) 736-2515, where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 6, with the Pastor Paul Georgulis officiating. Interment will take place in LaFayette Memorial Park.
