Lawrence “Larry” E. Wilson, 82, of Perryopolis, Perry Township, passed away Monday, March 3, 2025, in Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Harmarville, Pittsburgh. Born October 14, 1942 in Mt. Pleasant, he was a son of the late Andrew and Margaret Colland Wilson.
A lifelong resident of the Perryopolis area, Mr. Wilson was a member of St. John The Baptist Roman Catholic Church and was a proud veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in Japan with the Air Force.
After serving his time in the Air Force, Larry went on to work for White Trucks of Ohio, Westinghouse in the Nuclear Division, then retired from PENN DOT as a bridge designer. After his retirement, he was a licensed realtor for five years. He worked with contractors and individuals designing homes, then worked part time at Del Suppa Pools until his full retirement. He had a strong work ethic to provide for his family.
Larry was a lifetime lodge member of Perry Sokols and Perryopolis Sons & Daughters of Italy.
He loved to dance with his wife, Dorothy, cruising and walking together, and enjoyed sports, especially coaching football to many children in the Perryopolis and Belle Vernon areas.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Lafko Wilson, with whom he would have celebrated 62 years of marriage in May; three daughters and sons-in-law, Natalie and Stephen Manack of Belle Vernon, Sherry and Larry Jackson of Perryopolis, Cindy and Rob Frazier of Independence, Ohio; son and daughter- in-law, Larry and Kristin Wilson of Irwin; two brothers and sisters-in- law, Robert and Andrea Wilson of Perryopolis, Jack and Linda Wilson of Belle Vernon; six grandchildren, Steven and Emily Manack, Seth and Courtney Manack, Gina and Nate Pelco, Cooper Wilson, Camden Wilson, Jillian Frazier; along with two great-granddaughters, Lila Manack and Josephine Pelco.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Dan Wilson.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 6, in the PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME & CREMATIONS LLC, Family Owned and Operated, 191 Liberty Street, Perryopolis, 724-736-2515, where Prayers of Transfer will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 7, followed by Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. in St. John The Baptist RC Church, with the Rev. Rodolfo Mejia as celebrant. Interment will take place in St. Nicholas Cemetery. Members of St. John the Baptist Parish will gather at 3 p.m. Thursday, in the funeral home, to pray the Rosary.
