Joseph W. Gray Jr.
Masontown native Joseph W. Gray Jr., 82, passed away to be with his Lord and Savior Tuesday, March 4, 2025. He was born November 6, 1942, in Sunshine, to the late Joseph W. Gray Sr. and Frances “Baba” Bezjak Gray.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Audrey L. Zinn; his son, Joseph Scott Gray; brother, Gene Gray; and sister, Flora (Rusty) Zieglar; his grandson, Brian D. Gray II; and great-granddaughter, Callie Gray.
Surviving are his children, Jody (Bob) Breakiron, and Brian D. (Debbie) Gray; his grandchildren, Kyle (Bre) Gray, Taylor (Garrett) Kinney, Kolby Hall, Erik Trent; and great- grandchildren, Mason Provance, Brielle Gray, Tanner “Joseph” Kinney, Brian D. Gray III, Avery Trent; and many other loved ones.
He is also survived by his current wife, Audrey J. Gray of Fairhope; and their two dogs.
Joe proudly served in the 4th District OSI-Vietnam and Special Agent in the United States Air Force, retiring after 22 years.
He served as park ranger supervisor for the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Bureau of State Parks, Laurel Hill State Complex and retired after 22 years of service.
He was pastor of the Faith Christian and Missionary Alliance in Gray for the past 28 years.
Joe dedicated his life to helping others and provided religious services to patients at the Tranquility Unit, Highlands Hospital in Connellsville for 20 years, and to residents of Patriot Village Nursing and Rehab in Somerset.
He was a member of the National Fraternal of Police, Croation Fraternal Union, Lodge 354 in Cokeburg and the Veteran’s Leadership Program in Johnstown, where he volunteered with its veteran food distribution program.
Family and friends will be received from 10 a.m. until 12 noon, the time of a service, Saturday, March 8, in the Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home, 476 W. Main Street, Somerset. The service will be officiated by Paul Troy. Interment to be at a later date, with military honors.
