Kathy A. Miller Vance

Petty Officer RM2 Kathy A. Miller Vance, 64, of Columbus, Ohio, left this world for her heavenly home Saturday, March 8, 2025.
She was born February 9, 1961, in Uniontown.
Kathy joined the Navy November 2, 1982, and served until being honorably discharged November 2, 1987. She was awarded the National Defense Service Metal and Sea Service Ribbon.
Kathy was a graduate of Fairchance-Georges High School Class of 1979.
Preceding her in death was her father, Robert A. Miller.
Surviving are her mother, Betty Miller Felton of Fairchance; and her sons: Kelly Vance STS1 Ret. USN of Virginia; Jeffery Vance GMC Ret. USN and wife Raeanna of Ewa Beach, Hawaii; and Jeremy Vance of Virginia, who most recently moved to Ohio to be near his mother; Bill Vance, the father of her sons; grandchildren, Kamden, Kyla, Kyle, Allan, and Tyler; siblings, Dr. Kimberly S. (Kevin) Swaney, Diana Miller of Smithfield, and Robert A. Miller of Fairchance; dearly treasured nieces and nephews, four aunts, one uncle, and a host of cousins.
Kathy was a beacon and light to all who knew her. She embraced being a mother of three sons and grandmother of five, with a special bond to Kyle. She maintained a close relationship with her mother, sisters, and brother.
Aside from her military service, she was employed in various areas and truly enjoyed being a member of the working community.
She volunteered in charitable services in her community and she privately supported six families with Thanksgiving meals each year.
She fought melanoma with dignity and strength and continued to work until January as her health had declined.
The family will receive friends and family from 1 to 4 p.m., the time of a funeral service, Friday, March 14, in the DEAN C. WHITMARSH FUNERAL HOME, 134 West Church Street, Fairchance, with her cousin, Pastor Kevin Leadbeater officiating the service.
