William Jerome Garcher, Sr.

William Jerome Garcher, Sr., 83, of Winnsboro, S.C., passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2025, in White Oak Manor, Lancaster, S.C.
He was born March 10, 1942, in Liberty, W.Va., a son of the late George and Helen M. Yanchus Garcher.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Micheal G. Garcher; and several brothers and sisters.
He attended grade school at St. Mary’s, Leckrone, and graduated from German Township High School Class of 1960, and California State College in 1965, with a Bachelors of Science in Chemistry and Biology).
He served in the U.S. Marines as a LCp1 in the Vietnam War. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal with device, Vietnam Service Medal with 1*.
Bill spent 32 years as a pharmaceutical sales representative.
He was an active member in the following organizations: Holy Name Society, Knights of Columbus, St. Francis of Assisi Church, Masontown, VFW Post 4584, American Legion Post 423, and League, D A V, V V A.
He was a member of Saint Francis of Assisi Parish in Masontown, and St. Michael in Great Falls, S.C.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Sandra Lee Hlebinsky Garcher; his children: Michele Cummings and husband George of Huntington, W.Va.; William Garcher, Jr. and wife Rena of Clayton, N.C.; and Jennifer Barber and husband Justin of Archer Lodge, N.C.; his grandchildren, Abigail, Ellison, Lillian, Cassandra and Troy; and his brother and sister.
Family and friends will be received in the JOHN S. MAYKUTH JR. FUNERAL HOME, Masontown, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 18, and again Wednesday, March 19, from 9 until 9:30 a.m., when a prayer service will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Francis of Assisi Church, Masontown. Burial in St. Agnes Cemetery, Masontown, with military honors by U.S. Marine Corps Honor Guard, Masontown VFW Post 4584 and Masontown American Legion Post 423 Honor Guard.
