Walter V. Duda, Sr.
Walter V. Duda, Sr., 93, of New Salem, PA passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 15, 2025. He was born on February 20, 1932 in Brownsville, a son of the late Michael and Mary Duda.
Wally was a U.S. Marine CPL who served during the Korean War. A member of The American Legion, Post 590 Republic. He was retired from U.S. Steel after 41 years of service. He was an avid Steelers fan.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Wanetta M. King Duda.
Left to cherish his memory are his four children: Peggy J. (Tim) Martin, Walter V. (Janice) Duda, Jr., Tracy Duda, and Mark A. Duda; grandchildren: Jody Duda, Ashley (Mason) High, Morgan (Steven) Hvizda, Creed Duda, Casey Duda, Hunter (Emma) Sloboda, Mark Duda, Daniel Duda, Justin Duda, Tiffany Duda; great-grandchildren: Brooke, Welles, Ivan, Esther, Emmett, and one on the way; brother, James Duda; also survived by nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received at The Dearth Funeral Home, 35 South Mill Street, New Salem, PA 15468 on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday at the funeral home at 10 a.m. with Pastor John Thomas officiating.
