Lemont Furnace

Robert Joseph “Crazy” Crayton, 76, of Lemont Furnace, passed away Tuesday, February 3, 2026, in WVU Uniontown Hospital, Uniontown.

He was born January 24, 1950, in Mt. Pleasant, to the late Robert Edgar Crayton and the late Mary Kathryn Clegg Crayton.

He honorably served his country in the United States Army.

For those who had the opportunity to get to know him, Crazy brought fond memories, a multitude of smiles, and a unique flair to their lives.

He had a vast number of cars throughout his lifetime, well into the hundreds, and enjoyed all things car-related immensely. He also frequently enjoyed riding motorcycles in his spare time.

Worth noting is the soft spot in Robert’s heart for animals. Those who knew him best find recalling a time when he didn’t have cats that he loved and cared for impossible. At one time, he even had a pet monkey.

Above all else, one of his most admirable pastimes was the quiet time that he spent in God’s word. Robert read his bible every day and held it dear to him, quietly deepening his faith in his Lord.

He is survived by his good friends, Lucky LaCaffinie, John DeRosa, Big Al, Kent Crossland, and Bob Miller.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Linda Swaynee.

Friends will be received in the Burhans- Crouse Funeral Home, 28 Connellsville Street, Dunbar, Monday, February 9, from 2 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m., the hour of service, with Pastor Bob Miller officiating.

Military Honors accorded by Hopwood AMVETS Post 103.

Private interment to take place in Cove Run Cemetery, Lemont Furnace.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions, in Robert’s name, are suggested to Cove Run Free Methodist Church, 345 Yauger Hollow Road, Lemont Furnace.
