Point Marion, Pa.

Betty Mae Grubb, 70, of Point Marion, passed away peacefully Thursday, July 11, 2019, in Always Care Personal Care Home, Connellsville, where she had been a resident. Born in Waynesburg on November 19, 1948, she was a daughter of the late William and Ruth Porter Shaffer.

Being one of 13 children, Betty left school at an early age to help her mother raise and care for her siblings.

Surviving are her two sons, Harry Shaffer of Belle Vernon, who has faithfully overseen her care for the past seven years, and J.D. Grubb of Fairchance; five grandchildren, including Courtney Jo Shaffer and Harry O. Shaffer; two sisters, Shirley Miller and Nancy Eagle; four brothers, Joe, David, Robert and Russell Shaffer; and many friends in the Point Marion area.

She was predeceased by her husband, Roy F. Grubb, in 1986; brothers Jim Porter, Billy and Woodrow Shaffer; and sisters Margie Shaffer, Diane Lincoln, Mildred Hagner and Rosie Bannister.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 15, in RICHARD R. HEROD FUNERAL HOME, Point Marion, and Tuesday until 11 a.m., the hour of service, with Pastor Kathy Griffith officiating. Interment follows in East Oak Grove Cemetery, Morgantown, W.Va.
