Donald Glenn Barnhart II


Donald Glenn Barnhart II, 54, of Aiken, S.C., passed away Monday, July 8, 2019, at home, surrounded by his family. A native of Masontown, Donald was the beloved husband of Denise Vaccaro Barnhart and son of Shirley Barnhart and the late Donald Glenn Barnhart Sr.

He graduated from Albert Gallatin High School and Waynesburg College. He taught science in numerous school districts in Pennsylvania and South Carolina, most recently JET Middle School and Strom Thurmond High School. He was passionate about sharing his love of science and hands-on applications with his students.

Donald coached high school football and was instrumental in beginning numerous wrestling and weight lifting programs during his career.

He attended Trinity United Methodist Church in Aiken.

Surviving, in addition to his wife Denise, and his mother, Shirley, are four children, Dylan Barnhart and wife Shannon of San Diego, Calif., Dayna Barnhart of St. Augustine, Fla., Derek Barnhart of Rock Hill, S.C., and Darren Barnhart, at home; three sisters, Tammy Cowsert of Masontown, Barbara Barnhart of McClellandtown and Linda McCoy of Masontown; and Donald's mother-in-law and father-in-law, Lois and Art Vaccaro of McClellandtown.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday, July 13, in H. DAVID MCELROY FUNERAL HOME, 803 Main Street, McClellandtown. Funeral services will be held Sunday, july 14, in McClellandtown Free Methodist Church located at 154 Blaine Avenue, McClellandtown. The church will open its doors at 2:30 p.m. with services starting at 3. Burial will follow at Mennonite Cemetery in Masontown.

Denise, I was so saddened to read this. You have my deepest sympathy! Don was quite a handsome man, and he certainly did a lot of good - you must be so proud of his accomplishments.
