Fred K. Provance


Fred K. Provance, 81, of Brownsville, passed away peacefully Thursday, September 5, 2019.

He was born December 30, 1937, in Denbo, a son of the late Dawson and Eleanor Johnson Provance.

Fred became a fireman in December of 1960 with The South Brownsville Fire Department. He served as the fire chief from 1966 to 1967 and also had served as president. He was a member of The Fayette County Firemen's Association and The Fayette County Fire Relief Association. Fred was also the longtime C.E.O. of The Brownsville Sewage Authority.

He was preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey C. Provance, September 3, 2019; and a sister, Sandy Jones.

Fred is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Judith Boyd Provance; son Frederick D. Provance and wife Leanna of California; daughter-in-law Lisa Provance; grandchildren Rori B. Provance and fiance Chuck Kuhn, Rhiannon Barry and husband Tom, Charissa Gormon and husband Robert, Jeffrey Provance, Travis Provance and wife Melanie; great-grandchildren Brayton Barry, Briella Barry, Cherry Gormon, Leah Provance, Liam Provance; two brothers, Dawson Dale Provance and Ronald Provance; also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m., the time of a memorial service, Monday, September 9, in SKIRPAN FUNERAL HOME, 135 Park Street, Brownsville.
