Fairchance

Geraldine Delia "Gerry" Gribble King, 91, passed away and entered eternal life Monday, September 9, 2019, surrounded by her loving family.

She was the last surviving member of her immediate family and the family matriarch. Gerry was born February 23, 1928, in Fairchance, a daughter of the late Chauncey and Margaret McDonough Gribble.

She attended St. John's School and was a graduate of Uniontown Beauty Academy. She was a former employee of Children's Hospital and Uniontown County Club. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church in Uniontown.

Gerry enjoyed gardening, watching Jeopardy and the Sci-Fi Channel, trips to Myrtle Beach with her family, playing Solitaire, a good cup of Taster's Choice Coffee, a sweet slice of watermelon, and baking for family and friends. Her specialties were pecan tassies, cranberry nut bread, lemon cake, and Texas sheet cake. Most recently she enjoyed playing Bingo and other activities with her friends at Mt. Macrina Manor. Gerry was affectionately known as Grandma King to not only her grandchildren, but also their friends. She was a kind, sweet, sincere and witty lady, who overcame a congenital birth defect but never let it define who she was. She is gone from our lives but will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 49 years, Edward A. King Sr.; sisters Florence Cooke, Gertrude Cameron, Virginia Thomas; and brother Chauncey Gribble.

She is survived by her children, Cathy Bryner and husband Mark of Chalk Hill; Edward King Jr. and wife Debora of Uniontown; and Mary Over and husband James of Uniontown; grandchildren Carly Miller, Ryann Over, Mark Bryner Jr. (Jamie), Nathan King, Cory Over (Lauren), Molly King, Haley King, Taylor Bryner and Christian Bryner; great-grandchildren McKena and Mason Bolish, Willow Delia Lisac, Emmett and Elyn Griffiths, and Addison and Mark Bryner III; sister-in-law Suzanne King; brother-in-law Larry King; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday, September 13, and until 9:30 a.m. Saturday, September 14, when prayers of transfer will be said, in Baker-Terravecchia Funeral Home, Inc., 71 Pennsylvania Avenue, Uniontown.

A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. in St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 50 Jefferson Street, Uniontown, Pa 15401.

The family would like to thank the staff of Mt. Macrina Manor for the loving care and compassion shown to their mother and grandmother, and the Sisters of St. Basil the Great for the daily pastoral care given.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made in memory of Gerry to Mt. Macrina Manor Activity Fund or St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church in Uniontown.
