Perryopolis

Gilbert R. Chuboy, 83, of Perryopolis, passed away Wednesday, September 18, 2019 at his home, with his loving family by his side. He was born December 3, 1935 in Perryopolis, a son of Steve Chuboy, Sr. and Susan Hamelly.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Charlotte Farquhar Chuboy and second wife, Marion A. Jenco Chuboy (8/23/2019); siblings, Steve Jr., Louis, James, Freda and Goldie.

Gilbert was a lifelong resident of Perryopolis. He was a member of the Calvin United Presbyterian Church in Brownsville, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Gold Star Post 7023 and American Legion 752 and life member of Star Junction Fish and Game Club. He retired from Local 66 Operating Engineers.

Gilbert served his country in the United States Army with the occupation forces in Germany, the third infantry division, and was later called back to the Cuban Missile Crises where he served in the 429th engineer battalion.

Gilbert is survived by his children, Caroline Smith and her husband Craig of Rostraver Township, Michaelle Anderkovitch of Perryopolis, Robert Chuboy and his wife Veronica of Perryopolis, Alex Chuboy and his wife Becky of Perryopolis, Joseph Chuboy and his wife Ryan of Perryopolis; nine grandchildren, Matthew Anderkovitch, Jacob Anderkovitch, Luke Anderkovitch, Charlotte Anderkovitch, Rachael Chuboy, Christina Chuboy, Jessica Chuboy, Bethann Chuboy, Emma Chuboy; and his pet dog, Blackie.

Gilbert’s family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, September 20, in the BLAIR-LOWTHER FUNERAL HOME, 305 Rear Independence Street, Perryopolis, Pa. His funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in the First Christian Church, 307 Independence Street, Perryopolis, with Pastor Jane Johnson of the Calvin United Presbyterian Church, officiating. (EVERYONE PLEASE MEET AT THE CHURCH).

Interment will follow in Mt. Washington Cemetery, Perryopolis, with full military rites and honors being accorded by the Goldstar Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7023 and American Legion Post 752.

The Goldstar Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7023 and American Legion Post 752 will conduct a prayer service at 7 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
