Judith “Judy” E. (Rechichar) Weiss, 79, Ridgefield, Connecticut and formerly of Republic Pa., Washington, Pa., and Stamford, Connecticut, passed away on Thursday March 29, 2018.

Judy was born in Fairhope, Pennsylvania on Wednesday, October 19, 1938 a daughter of the late Cyril and Matilda (Sloboda) Rechichar.

Judy was a majorette at Redstone High School and an avid lover of music and dancing.

A stunning redhead, smart, energetic, and eager to experience life, she moved to Pittsburgh, Pa., after school and worked at the Pittsburgh Playhouse.

She met and married Richard Weiss in 1958 and raised three wonderful daughters in Pennsylvania, Virginia, and finally Connecticut.

Eager to be an independent woman, Judy enjoyed a career as a legal secretary for 30+ years before retiring.

Terri, Sandy and Mimi gave Judy many beloved grandchildren, all of whom she adored: Emery Purdy III and his now deceased companion Juli, Ricky Purdy and his wife Amanda, Melissa Purdy, Olivia Davenport and Georgie Wood.

Judy lived for the last 17 years with her daughter Mimi, husband Greg and granddaughter Georgie in Ridgefield where they hosted the family for many holidays and celebrations.

She enjoyed collecting dolls, playing games on her ipad, and sharing good times with family and friends. She loved playing cards and was a frequent blackjack player in Atlantic City and then Foxwoods.

While Judy could be quite a tough nut, she also had a wonderful sense of humor and compassion for those who needed it most.

Her laugh was infectious and would draw anyone nearby to the conversation.

She is survived by her three daughters: Terri A. Davenport and her ex-husband Dana, Sandra L. Purdy and her husband Emery, Mimi Wood and her husband Gregory. In addition to her daughters, their spouses and her grandchildren, Judy is survived by her ex-husband, Richard D. Weiss; two brothers: Larry Rechichar, Jerry Rechichar; and many nieces and nephews that she adored as much as they adored her. She will be missed by many.
