Martin Dwight Zueger

Martin Dwight Zueger, of Grindstone, went home to be with his Lord May 19, 2019. He was born March 7, 1951, in Homestead.

Martin fought a courageous battle with cancer and was cared for and deeply loved by the 6th floor staff at Shadyside Hospital.

A son of the late Martin L. and Patricia Peyton Zueger, he was a lifelong resident of Grindstone. Martin was a member of Grace Baptist Church, Grindstone, where he held the position of trustee. He was a member of the Pittsburgh Blacksmith Association and member and instructor at Fort Allen Antique Farm Association. He was a board member of the Uniontown Art Club and worked as an Iron Worker for Iron Worker’s Local #3 in Pittsburgh for 45 years.

Martin is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 46 years, Karen Robinson Zueger; son Martin W. Zueger and wife Summer of Perryopolis; three grandchildren, Martin W. Zueger Jr. and girlfriend Missy Shipley, Michael Zueger and wife Jessica, and Rose Zueger. He was thrilled to have the opportunity to enjoy time with his great-grandbaby, Grace Zueger. He is also survived by two brothers and sister-in-law James Zueger of Mt Pleasant, and Mark Zueger and wife Cheryl of North East, Md.; two sisters and brothers-in-law Ruth Stewart and husband Richard of Grindstone, and Mary Wilson and husband William of Fayette City; sisters-in-law Kathleen Messenger and husband Byron, Blanche Clark, Judy Zias and husband Robert, Jacqueline Shaporka and husband Gary; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was predeceased by brother David Zueger and sister-in-law Nancy Flick.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 22, at PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME & CREMATIONS, Family Owned and Operated, 191 Liberty Street, Perryopolis, PA, 724-736-2515.

Funeral services and a celebration of life will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 23, at the funeral home, with Martin’s wife, Karen, and the Rev. Mitchell Wall officiating. Interment will take place in Bowman-Flatwoods Cemetery.
