Negie A. Marucci Sr. 94, of Republic, passed away Thursday, March 21, 2019, in the comfort of his home with those he loved.

He was born August 7, 1924, in Allison, a son of the late Ruggero and Pauline Federica Marucci.

He was a lifetime member of the former Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church of Republic, and served as an usher for many years. Negie was currently a member of St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church of Footedale.

Negie was a veteran of WWII serving with the United States Army as a staff sergeant.

He was a lifetime member of The Fairbank Rod & Gun Club, member of The Former Sons of Italy Lodge of Republic, current member of The Sons of Italy Frank Ricco Lodge of Brownsville and The Republic American Legion Post 590.

He was employed as a Mine Foreman with Isabella Coal Mine and was a member of The United Mineworkers of America District 2, Local 1240.

He was an avid hunter, fisherman and gardener who was well known for his gardens and love of gardening.

Negie was preceded in death by his son, Donald Marucci, Sr.; three sisters, Louise Pisegna, Theresa Gladden and Mary Kenney; four brothers, Pete Marucci, Mendan Marucci, Alfred Marucci and Guido Marucci.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years, Elizabeth “Libby” Burrie Marucci, formerly of Hibbs; four children, Vincent P. Marucci and wife Rose of Grindstone, Negie A. Marucci, Jr. and wife Liz of Republic, Beth Barreca of Brownsville andmRichard Marucci Sr. and wife Dana of Republic; 11 grandchildren, Angela McCoy, Amanda Chetirko, Negie A. Marucci, III, Kristina Haluska, Breann Barreca, Barry Barreca, Bethany Marucci, Donald Marucci, Jr., Cody Marucci, Megan Marucci and Richard Marucci, Jr.; and 10 great-grandchildren; sister Lucy “Sue” Shoaf of Carmichaels; brother Carlo Marucci of Republic; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in The DEARTH FUNERAL HOME, 35 South Mill Street, New Salem, and from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday, where a prayer service will be held, followed by a Funeral Mass at 1 p.m. in St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, Footedale Site, with the Rev. Father William G. Berkey as celebrant. Interment will follow in Holy Rosary Cemetery, Republic, where Full Military Honors will be accorded by The Hopwood AMVETS Post 103.
