Nora Marlane Willenberg Matzus

Nora Marlane (Willenberg) Matzus, 67, Fairchance, Pa., passed away at home with her loving family by her side on Thursday, March 8, 2018.

Marlane was born in Uniontown, Pennsylvania to Howard D. and Jeanne M. Willenberg.

She graduated from Fairchance-Georges High School, Class of 1968, and from California University of Pennsylvania in 1972. She also attended Seton Hill University from 1968 to 1970.

On July 3, 1970, she married Kenneth Matzus, the love of her life. They remained devoted to one another until his death in March 2015.

She was the mother of two sons: Sean E. Matzus and Kevin S. Matzus, this was the great joy of her life.

She was the dedicated grandmother of three beloved grandchildren: Caleb Austin, Elijah David, Colie Marie-Rae.

Marlane worked for Albert Gallatin School District for 35 years and enjoyed teaching her kindergarten and third grade children.

She was a life long member of First Baptist Church, Fairchance, and a member of the church choir for over 45 years. She held other positions at the church for many years.

She was a member of several organizations and enjoyed traveling, reading, volunteer work, etc. In her unique way, she inspired numerous people *.. her students, family, friends and everyone she met. Her students numbered in the thousands and greeted her wherever she was. Her quiet manner, quick wit and friendliness will be missed by all.

Her survivors include: Sean E. and Richard Ramirez-Matzus, Kevin S. Matzus and Kelly, Caleb Matzus-Chapman, Elijah David Wilson and Colie Marie-Rae Darr; brothers, James Willenberg, Timothy (Lori) Willenberg, and Russell Willenberg; siste, Sandra Bartlett; sisters-in-law: Donna Willenberg and Johnette Upton (William); brother-in-law, Gerald Matzus (Wanda); many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins; aunt and uncle Joan and Wil Colvin; and many treasured friends.

Preceding her in death in addition to her parents Jeanne and Howard and husband Ken were her mother-in-law, Elizabeth Matzus; step mother, Elizabeth Willenberg; brother, Howard Willenberg Jr.; niece, Lori Jeanne Willenberg.

Marlane did not want any public viewing but wants all of her friends, family and others dear to her to feel welcome to come to a Remembrance at the Alfred Wilson Memorial Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7219, 2 North Main Street, Fairchance, Pa., on Saturday, March 24, 2018 from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, Marlane requested that memorial contributions may be made to the Building Fund of the First Baptist Church, 17 North Morgantown Street, Fairchance, PA 15436 or to the American Cancer Society.

Many thanks to all of you for the prayers, cards, concern, phone calls, food and other ways that Marlane was taken care of during her illness. She will see you in Heaven where she is waiting for each and everyone.

Arrangements are under the direction of the DEAN C. WHITMARSH FUNERAL HOME, 134 West Church Street, Fairchance, Pa.
