Smithfield, Pa.

Rupert "Mike" Smitley, 85, of Smithfield, died Tuesday, July 9, 2019, in Henry Clay Villa, Markleysburg, where he had been a resident for the past several years. Born in Point Marion on January 1, 1934, he was a son of the late Louis Edward and Sadie Thorpe Smitley

He was employed at Ford Motor Company in Cleveland, retiring after 32 years as a quality inspector.

Surviving are one son, Michael Allen Smitley of Uniontown; sister JoAnn Rimmel of Dilliner; and two brothers, Charles "Chug" Smitley of Fairchance and Marvin Smitley of Point Marion; and a number of loving nieces and nephews and their families.

His wife, Nancy Jean Sines Smitley, passed away January 20, 2017. Also deceased are brothers Edward, Randall, Adron and William Smitley, and sisters Betty Corob, Ella Lambert, Rose Aron and Sarah Johnson.

Graveside services are planned for Wednesday, July 24, in the Evergreen Memorial Park, Point Marion, time to be announced. Arrangements are in the care of the RICHARD R. HEROD FUNERAL HOME, Point Marion. Condolences may be offered at www.herod-rishel.com.
